The Theatre School aims to engage young people in the world of theatre through high quality drama classes that challenge and inspire. Our goal is to develop the students’ creative potential by cultivating imagination and fostering an understanding of the world around us.
The Theatre School runs skills-based weekly workshops covering the two key elements of theatrical learning: improvisation and text based work. These classes run alongside exciting lessons in mask, mime, physical theatre, choral speaking, movement, stage combat and much more.
The Theatre School is committed to providing opportunities for performance ranging from end of term showings of work through to staged productions. Every summer the theatre school packs its bags and takes a show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, providing the students with the chance to play to a real audience. This is an experience that students will remember for a lifetime, and one that makes us unique in the local area.
The Theatre School was started in 2008 in Tunbridge Wells and offers a safe environment where students from 11-18 years of age can build and extend their knowledge and understanding of theatre and drama forms. This is needed now more than ever with the increasing removal of drama from the school curriculum.
